MEET THE HACKERS

Revitalizing this iconic Moscow bar and kitchen, newly christened "Forty Two," is the project of Steve and Traci Hacker. Both are long-time Moscow locals and UI alumni with deep roots in the community. They envision Forty Two as a gathering place for everyone in town—from long lost friends returning for the weekend to families looking for a place to celebrate.

Steve and Traci, alongside their son Beau, have been hard at work breathing new life into the space and expanding its potential for hospitality. Stop by for a quick pint, a long conversation, or some of the best hand-cut fries on the Palouse. At Forty Two you might very possibly find the answers to life, the universe, and, well, nearly everything.

our story

The origins of our barbecue are rooted in southern heritage. Beginning in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in East Tennessee and Western North Carolina, we are steeped in the quality of good food and good company. None excluded, all welcome and ideas of deliciousness openly discussed. Over time members of our family traveled beyond the Blue Ridge into Texas. Bringing the heart of Texas and the flavor of mesquite, we found an authentic southern connection to our barbecue. We imparted the history of Appalachia and the story of Texas flavor to create our unique culinary tradition. From our slow smoking processes highlighting mesquite and post oak from Texas, family dry rub recipes, to our scratch made sauces, we invite you to enjoy our barbecue. Forty Two may or may not be the answer to life, the universe and everything but we might just be the stop on your way.

Old friends and new are all invited to visit and we can’t wait to see you!
